The story of oxford shoes

The oxford began as a men's shoe and was adopted by women in the early 1900s, first as a sturdy lace-up with a curved Edwardian heel. In the 1920s and 1930s it became the everyday shoe for work and city life, often with a higher heel, perforations or tassels. In the 1940s, practical oxfords and derbies with a solid heel were worn by women at work, while two-tone spectator and saddle oxfords became popular for weekends and dancing.

Our oxfords and derbies are based on originals from these decades. We have kept the period details, from the perforations and toe caps to the shape of the heel.

Every pair is made from full-grain leather or suede in small production runs.

Many styles have discreet silicone inserts under the insole, so you can wear them all day. Several styles also come in wide fit.
