The story of 1950s shoes

When Christian Dior presented the New Look in 1947, fashion moved away from the practical wartime styles of the early 1940s. Through the 1950s, full skirts, nipped-in waists and a more feminine silhouette called for shoes to match. Court shoes with slimmer heels, peep toes and almond toes became everyday wear, while wedge sandals and saddle shoes defined the more casual side of the decade.

Our 1950s collection is based on original shoes from the period. You will find classic court shoes with a gently rounded almond toe and a well-balanced Spanish heel, peep toe pumps, summer wedge sandals and lined ankle boots for colder days. The details, from the cut of the vamp to the shape of the heel, are kept true to the era.

Most styles are handcrafted in soft full-grain leather or suede. Many have leather outsoles that let the foot breathe and soften with wear, while selected styles have rubber soles for extra grip.

Vintage style should not come at the expense of comfort. Many styles have soft silicone inserts beneath the leather insole that cushion every step, and the heels are shaped for balance and stability, so you can wear your 1950s shoes all day, not just for special occasions.
