Mette's shoes are a saviour for ladies with large feet! My 17-year-old has been suffering from confidence-crushing shopping experiences in which she felt like a freak because of her size 43. Most ladies' shoes are produced up to size 42 and we desperately looked not for just OK shoes but beautiful ones for a formal occasion. I got these Mary Janes for swing dancing and they are very comfortable as dancing shoes. I was a bit worried that they wouldn't fit me after reading the comments, because my feet are on the wider side but surprisingly I had no problem even after 2 hours of non stop dancing. (Also, Ditte was very helpful and quick to respond to my emails, so thanks Ditte!) And they look adorable.
I have only two problems with the purchase (and one of them is not even about the shoes):
1. The strap of the left shoe was a bit too big for me and as it is not adjustable I had to take out the old thread and needle and sew off a part of the elastic band. It's not that big of a problem but it's not ideal either. I'm also having a lot of trouble every time I try to do the button. I just wish the strap was adjustable and had a buckle instead of a button.
2. If you are ordering them from Canada, beware of the customs duty / taxes. I used the government's online calculator and it gave me an estimation of $25 CAD, yet I had to pay over $90 CAD in customs. But obviously it is not this company's fault.

The button closure does make it a bit harder to adjust, despite having the elastic band, but I'm glad to hear you found a solution. You're also always more than welcome to write to us, if you have any questions about the closeure of our shoes. The button will also become easier to open and close in time, as the leather softens up.
Customs to Canada can be a tricky one, and we're still working on it.

Like all of my other memery shoes (I have many) they are beautifully designed, so well crafted of quality materials, vintage roots but so contemporary, and exceptionally durable. This is the shoe missing from my wardrobe, and I found the ivory version to be even more beautiful in person. The little sculpted heel is not too low for my high arches (vs pancake heels). It killed me to have to return them, not the fault of the shoe but of my wide-ish feet and bunion. Almost kept them just to display! Normally shoes of this cut (low heel with low wide vamp) do not fit me well, but as nearly all other memery styles have been a perfect fit, I had high hopes. I size up to 11 in memery (instead of 10) for the width, but these felt more narrow than most and were already a tad too long, causing a buckle in front even with padding so I felt that a 12 would be too long yet still not wide enough. Not sure if it’s possible to produce them in Wide without losing design integrity, but I would love to try if ever made! Thank you Mette for all you do.
